When you're lying in bed and the end is nigh, you stare at the ceiling with a tear in your eye, no matter how weak no matter how sick, don't let your final thought be; I shoulda clicked that pic!

A quiet, peaceful Sunday today; the family returned from Colorado Springs this afternoon and had a great time. I don't know how much rest and relaxation the adults enjoyed because taking a weekend trip with kids is seldom relaxing, and you often end up coming home more tired than when you left. But most folks will agree that having a good time with the kids is worth it.

I did a little work on the Arctic Fox, but not much; I took most of the day off to get some rest and relaxation for myself since there was no one around except me and the dog.

I've got a lot of boxes and bags of things lying on the floor of the Lance, and when I took these things out of the Arctic Fox, I did so with the thought that they would travel with me every winter. But looking at the amount of stuff I have lying on the floor and knowing there are a few more bags and boxes still in the Fox, I have serious doubts about my ability to find places to store these things during my travels.

The various things lying on the floor of the Lance are survivors. They underwent a rigorous culling procedure when I moved into the Arctic Fox. They survived the constant jettisoning of things I took with me during my winter travels as their need became doubtful, and I again felt they were useful as I moved them into the Lance during the last few weeks.

But in all of those gleanings, these items never had to survive the toughest culling of all, which is; there's no room in the Lance for all of this stuff. But I have to find a solution to this dilemma; and there are several things I can do.... One is...

When I need something that I have no room for, I can buy that gadget and throw it away when I no longer need it... But that sounds pretty expensive to me.

I can leave most of the stuff that's laying on the floor of the Lance in my storage room and only use it in Denver during the summer... This assumes I can wait on needing that item for half the year.

Or, I can keep stuffing things into the Lance until all four tires of my truck are flat.

One solution to your problem might be to sell one of your properties that you seldom visit and thus don't use, very much, and use that $$$$ to buy a new 1 ton truck that you would use a lot, and worry a lot less. Maybe even throw in a newer, larger, camper. The properties don't seem to be doing much for you, whereas, you would use a new truck every day.

That's very true KennyD I do need to sell some property and I should sell the Tombstone Arizona property first, since I have less personal feelings about that property. And every time I'm there I think about putting it up for sale.

It's hard for me to sell Colorado property, because it increases in value fairly rapidly, so any Colorado property I sell, I'm always sorry I didn't hold it longer. I realize It's just a mental thing that I hold onto property because it's hard for me to make the transition between keeping a piece of property so it increases in value, and finally selling a property because I'm getting old and it's time for me to sell.

But you're right I do need to sell some of this stuff and I'll have to get around to it eventually.

One helpful question: Is there something else I can use to do that? No one really needs a potato peeler if they have a knife. Plus how many knives do you need? I do fine with a serrated steak knife and a chef's knife. Of course, I don't really cook. But, those two will do everything I ever needed to do when I did cook.

Plus microfiber cloths are wonderful! We use them as bath towels, swim towels, paper towels, dish towels, napkins, cleaning cloths, etc. It's nice to not need a different type of towel for each activity.

What you've described is basically what I'm doing. One of the reasons I don't do much cooking is there's just not much room for all the ingredients, the pots and pans, and the cleaning up when it's all over. As far cooking utensils, I own a medium-size pot, a small pot, and one small skillet. I have one fork, one spoon, and one knife, but I do have some disposable plastic utensils. And since the Lance is so much smaller than the Arctic Fox, I have even less stuff if that's possible.

I like finding multiple uses for things like you've done, and there's a lot of things that I live without and still live a comfortable life, because my needs are few, and my happiness is based on the joy of living, and not how much stuff I can accumulate, which I'm kind of ashamed to say, is more like the way I used to be.
