This airplane almost ended up being in my ugliest airplane collection, but ended up being more cute than ugly.

I lumbered into the Escapees Saguaro co-op in Benson Arizona this morning about 10 o'clock, gave them $36 for a week of dry camping and settled in for a relaxing stay.

I've been here before and I've always found this Escapees Park to be one of the nicest I've stayed at. I haven't checked out the laundry room yet but the last time I was here it was immaculate and so clean you could eat off the floor. In fact their laundry room was so good it is the standard by which I judge all others.

One of the reasons I wanted to stay here is so I could get a couple of shipments from Amazon. I could've had things sent General Delivery to the Post Office in Benson or Tombstone but UPS and FedEx makes so many deliveries to an Escapee Park I feel there's a much better chance my packages will arrive on time and at the right place.

The first thing I ordered from Amazon was a new backup camera system to replace my now nonworking camera system. Having gotten used to those two cameras hanging on the back of the Arctic Fox I feel like I'm driving half blind not being able to see behind me, and more importantly to see if the little Beta 250 is still hanging on back there.

My previous backup cameras were wired and this time I decided to try a wireless system. In the past the wireless systems were not very reliable and were prone to losing signal, or having lots of static. But the new systems are digital and have supposedly stopped a lot of those problems, or at least made them more livable.

The installation will be a whole lot simpler and therefore faster than having to run wires from the back of the Arctic Fox to the front of the truck with a plug to attach the camera wires from the trailer to the truck. And no I can't use the existing wires that I installed several years ago because it appears that they are part of the problem I'm having with the old system.

But thanks to Amazon I'm able to have a package sent to an address a thousand miles from where I supposedly live, that Amazon has never seen me at before and get it to me Monday morning. That's truly amazing.

Funny it never occurred to me to dry camp at the Benson SKP park. I always paid for hookups. Maybe I felt a need to fully charge batteries and electronics? Can't remember why now. I did dry camp at Casa Grande once.

The only reason that I ever have to come into civilization is to dump my tanks. In the past I've actually brought water to the Arctic Fox so I don't need to go somewhere and fill up with water. And I can get mail General Delivery but an Escapees Park is a great place to get packages. The solar panels provide all of the electricity I need, and I can go into town to get food.

I was just thinking, if I could get my hands on to one of those water purification systems that they use on board the space station that allows them to recycle all of their water I would no longer have to dump either of my tanks and I could boondock FOREVER !!... And I wouldn't have to worry about people stopping by asking for a drink of water.

I really like Air and Space museums and I've added this one to places to visit when I'm down that way. Your photo of the interior of the B-17 came out really well and looks amazing.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I always stop at the Pima air and space Museum whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

They have a tram ride to see the outside airplanes because there's a lot of walking involved, but its almost always packed with people so I just wear good shoes and carry plenty of water.

Since I believe you said your dad lived in Florida, if you're ever in the Panhandle check out the museum at the Pensacola Naval Air Station which is called the National Naval Aviation Museum. I was there about 10 years ago and remember it being well worth the visit if you like airplanes both new and old.

I'll pin the Pensacola NAS as well. My brother lives in the DC area and we've gone to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum at Dulles, which was amazing. I've also been to the Smithsonian at the Mall in DC, but only for a few hours and it was not nearly enough time to see a fraction of what was there. Planes are fascinating to me, especially all the different designs and thought that went into each to solve problems in different ways

I think if you seen those two museums most others are going pale in comparison.

I like airplanes also I think it's in my blood, Being an Air Force brat and living on Air Force bases for a lot of my young life ingrained the site the sound and the smell of military aircraft and JP-4 into my psyche.
