The family dog

Many a pic once forgot, can't be clicked like it or not. Once they're gone there never returned, now you know, lesson learned.

My grandson. He will have so much to learn, far more than I ever had to know. He will study history.... I am history.

And being from the past I can see the freedoms that I once enjoyed, and unbeknownst to him, he's already missing.

I fear this country is heading into a dark place where the philosophy "good will become bad and bad will become good" is already taking over.

 I had a busy morning fixing some things on the Arctic Fox, nothing that was difficult, just time-consuming.

My family went to Colorado Springs yesterday afternoon for a few nights to take a break from their busy work schedules. And they plan to take the kids to the zoo and other interesting Colorado Springs things.

But the family dog can't go to some of the things the family is going to be doing, like to the zoo, for instance, so the dog had to stay at home, and I'm babysitting the little critter.

Being small and hamster-like, the dog tends to get lonely when he's by himself, so I have to spend a lot of time in the house with him so he has someone to talk to. I speak very little dog, but I'm  proficient in hamster, so we can communicate fairly effectively.

My oldest son will be here Monday, and I look forward to that. He won't buy the Arctic Fox on this trip because I still have a lot of stuff to do to the Fox. I think I've got everything out of it that needs to come out, although there's still a small pile of things that I need to take to the storage room; all the big things have been taken to storage, and all of the things I've thrown away are gone.

And that's phase 1, which was to get everything out of the trailer that doesn't need to be there, and now I've started phase 2, which is repairing the things that need fixing. And there isn't much of that, so phase 2 should take little time.

Phase 3 is cleaning the trailer, and that will be easy-peasy.  phase 1 was the hard part when I had to decide what had to go with me, what stayed in storage, and what got thrown in the trash. That phase was a lot of work, but it was mostly making painful decisions.

But I'm figuring out how I can simplify my life and clear out the accumulated clutter that often fills most folks' lives. I've done this before but instead of getting easier it gets harder as my meager possessions get winnowed down to things that I want to keep, but can't.

But simplicity is the key to all things, including happiness. And just like the old Janis Joplin song says; "freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose."  It's really hard to be free when you're surrounded by stuff that you no longer need.
