the importance of scrounging in the military

Even though I'm calling it paintball, apparently people are switching from paintball to air-soft guns which shoot little plastic BBs. And I figured this out by all the plastic BBs laying on the ground, and no sign of paint from the paintballs on any of the targets.

I went wandering through the woods to see what the paintball guys had done to the place since the last time I was here. As usual, they used every scrap of wood they could scrounge up to make a fort or a place to hide before they get shot.

They've put a lot of effort into the place.... no money, just a lot of effort. And I can't blame them for that because, as any military man knows, scrounging is the way most things get done in the military. In fact, if it weren't for scrounging and the guys who are experts at it, our planes would probably drop out of the sky, the sailors on board the ship would starve, and drunken parties thrown for various reasons would cease to exist in the military.

Other than walking around in the woods, I didn't do much of anything except relax. I gave a lot of thought to replacing my leaky vent since some rain is predicted for later this week. But I never actually got past the thinking part and the doing something about it part before I got tired of all the thinking since it was interfering with my relaxing.

 Some folks can think and relax at the same time, and that's called multitasking. But I have trouble thinking about one task without complicating it by trying to think and relax at the same time, especially if I'm relatively sure I'm not going to accomplish either, so all that just Interferes with my relaxing.

It was hot enough today that I had to open all my windows and cool the place off after lunch. Fortunately, no matter how hot it is in the daytime, it's getting down into the 50s at night, which is perfect sleeping weather for me.

These storefront façades are new, and helps block off the Boondocking area from the shooters....I told you this whole deal was a scrounge job with no sign of any money being spent.

when you get here the first thing you need to do is site in your guns so you will know where there shooting.

The plastic BBs these gun shoot are going around 400 feet per second, which is considerably faster than the Red Ryder BB gun's I had as a kid and can do far more damage, which is why these guys wear protective gear, especially quality eye protection. They also shoot full-auto so they can put a lot of BBs on target in the blink of an eye.

This paintball field is about 100 yards long and 40 or 50 yards wide. So it's plenty big enough to run around and get a war-game kind of experience.... At least they're doing this and not sitting at home playing a video game.

These olive drab wheels, that have been painted white, and the tread pattern on those tires, look very familiar to me.

Hmmmm! and I think I recognize that camouflage netting from somewhere.

Between my dad being a lifer in the Air Force, me spending one four year hitch in the Air Force. And then me spending about 15 years working as a civilian for the Air Force and the Army, I understand how scrounging works and I can assure you nothing here was stolen, it was all scrounged... And speaking from experience, you would not believe how much stuff the military throws in the trash. And why not? It doesn't cost them anything.

Remember Afghanistan and the billions of dollars worth of weapons and equipment Biden left to our ENEMIES? Does he seem worried about it? Nope. And that was much worse than throwing it in the trash.

Sorry about that rant, sometimes when I think of all the government waste that I've personally witnessed It's hard to keep my mouth shut.
