The holidays are over now, and I can return to a normal life. Between the rain showers and not having much luck getting decent fireworks pictures in the past, I mostly stayed in the Lance, away from the crowd. But I did enjoy the barbecue; at least eating is something I always get right.

We got some hail right after I went to bed last night; I don't think it broke anything, but between the hail pounding on the roof and the fireworks still going off in every direction, it took me a while to get to sleep.

I woke up to yet another cloudy, rainy day with highs in the low 70s. This weather is weird, but I guess it's normal for the El Niño weather pattern we're supposed to be in now. After every weather report, I got used to saying, "I'm glad we're getting some rain. We can sure use the moisture." But I wonder if that's the case anymore, the lakes and rivers around here appear to be full and running high, so I'm curious if we actually do "need the moisture.

I've got to get serious about getting my truck ready to pass the Denver emissions test since my tag expires this month. Usually, I have it ready to be tested by now; I've spent so much time dealing with the Arctic Fox getting it ready for sale that I haven't paid much attention to the truck. But I can ignore it no longer, even the king of procrastination, and that would be me, has to finally get on the stick, stop putting things off, and do things that need to be done, which is exactly what I'm going to do... The very minute that I get around to it.

One good thing about your being parked in a driveway and procrastinating, you've taken some fine photos of the grandkids and flowers...and skies. All just lovely. And the kids are still beautiful....

Thank you so much Judith, you're so kind. I feel guilty for not getting out and doing anything interesting, but I just can't get in the mood to take a mini-vacation to someplace to take pictures of while I've got so much to do here. So it looks like until I get my projects around here caught up the only thing I have to take pictures of are the kids and the flowers.

I just learned of a new to me New Mexico boondocking area. Have you ever been to the Cosmic Campground near Alma NM?

Thanks for that information Barney, and no, I had never heard of Alma before. But I did just read up on it and It does look very interesting because I do enjoy taking pictures of the Milky Way. My biggest concern would be, and I'm just guessing about this, due to the remoteness of the area there may not be any Internet, and if I'm without Internet for more than a couple of days I start having Internet withdrawal symptoms and would probably be compelled to drive the 60 miles to Silver City.

But it does look interesting, and I do sometimes pass fairly close to it crossing from New Mexico to Phoenix, so I thank you for the information.

I can confirm there is no internet at the Cosmic Campground. I don't think there is in Alma either, but they do have a gas pump. That whole section of Highway 180 is pretty remote.

Thank you Ken, I appreciate that information. I had a feeling that might be the case, I've spent enough time in out-of-the-way places in New Mexico to know that there's a lot of out-of-the-way places in New Mexico, and most of them have little or no Internet. Maybe one day we will all have those Elon Musk antennas on top of our RVs and Internet problems will be a thing of the past.
