Looking at Google earth the other day I noticed something weird about 1/4 of a mile away from where I'm boondocked. It appeared to be a perfect circle in the desert with nothing around it that would give a clue as to why it was there.
So I walked over to it one day and found that it's a concrete circular sidewalk. It's the width of a sidewalk, it has what appear to be expansion joints like a sidewalk, I saw no signs that it was a foundation for anything, no bolt holes, or attachment points. It's just a perfect circle about 90 feet across. Very odd.
There's nothing around it that shows evidence of buildings or any other concrete. And there's no sign there was anything in the middle of the ring except desert dirt. And since it's flush with the ground you can't see it's there until your right up on it. if it wasn't for Google Earth I never would've known it was there.
So the question is... What is it?, and why is it there?
I do have a few well thought out logical explanations for what this mystery construction could be, and here are the ones that make the most sense to me.
It's a cover for a hole that goes to the center of the earth which had to be sealed to keep Satan from escaping and destroying Ajo. The plan apparently worked.
It's a landing pad for flying saucers, hence the round shape, built by a strange alien race that live inside the Sun. They visited Ajo one summer thousands of years ago, found it too hot, and moved back to the Sun.
It was built by an Indian tribe hundreds of years before there were casinos. and because their diet consisted of nothing but Barrel Cactus, they never grew any taller than 2 feet. And the concrete circle is where their high school track team practiced for the Olympics.
It's an aquarium for Sand Sharks.
A sign to visitors from outer space that there is "O" intelligent life on earth.
Those are the most logical explanations of what the mystery circle could be. Other opinions are welcome so long as there logical, and scientifically based as my interpretations.
This shows the approximate location of the mysterious desert circle to where I'm boondocked at the rodeo arena.
