The rule I live by that ensures my happiness

Even though this boondocking area is more crowded that I would like to see it, it still looks like I'm going to be happy here. After all I think this is the first desert boondocking I've done since I left Denver. But sometimes you can't tell until dark when all the generators start to come on how pleasant your stay is going to be.

It was a perfect morning for traveling, so I hit the road at 9:30 under sunny blue skies, 65° and no wind. And after an easy 65 mile drive I arrived at my boondocking spot and was set up and ready to relax by lunch.

I was somewhat shocked to see how many RVs there are at the place I wanted to boondock and almost kept going. There's plenty of other places to boondock around Lake Havasu but I'm rather fond of this area because of the excellent Verizon signal, its proximity to shopping, and it doesn't require a ten mile drive down a beat up dirt road.

Since the primo boondocking spots were taken I ended up in an area on a slight incline and had to drop the nose of the Arctic Fox down as far as it would go and it's still a little nose high but not enough to affect me or the refrigerator.

 I also had to break out my BAL X- chocks and put them between the tires, probably for my own mental security than the Arctic Fox's stability. There's a lot of nightmare scenarios that you can imagine could happen to a trailer, and rolling backwards down a hill, wiping out three other RVs before it goes over a cliff is right up there at the top of the list. In all of my camping days this is only the third time I can remember using the X chocks, but they do give me a feeling of security in situations like this so I think they're worth it.

I don't know why it's so crowded here, maybe I just hit it at the wrong time, or maybe boondocking is getting more popular which is a scary thought. I've lived long enough to know what happens when things get too popular. It gets crowded, then problems occur, then there's complaints, and before you know it everything gets shut down. That seems to be the sequence of events thats happened throughout my life to lots of things that people use to do till all of us baby boomers flooded the system.

But anyway, I'm happy, secure, and comfortable in my new boondocking location and if I still feel that way in a couple of days I might just order some new WIRED rearview cameras for the Arctic Fox, and maybe even the jetpack hotspot from Verizon.

I checked on the Internet and there's a Post Office a few miles from me that takes General Delivery's so if I decide to stay here for a while this would be a good chance to get some shipments in.

these are my BAL X-Chocks in action. There also on the other side. Some people say they take some of the movement out of the trailer when you're walking around, I've never noticed that. To me they help prevent the trailer from rolling away, which is the only reason I've ever used them.
