It's been way too warm for the snow to stick to the pavement, so the snow never became a driving problem.
Some snow finally arrived yesterday at about 6 PM, which translates into 1800 hours in the old fat man's language. It wasn't as much as predicted, which is almost always the case, but it makes more people tune in to the weather, which explains why everyday weather events are reported as disasters on the news every night.
Now that's over, we have to deal with a couple more days of chilly but sunny weather, and by the weekend, it's supposed to be in the 70s again. On the 10 day forecast, I'm not seeing any more 90s in our future, so hopefully, all that hot weather's over, and we can get down to our very enjoyable 70s, and 80s Fall weather.
It never did get down below 30°, so I didn't have to run the furnace to keep the basement warm. I've just been running my radiant heater all day, which keeps me comfortable, and then at night, I turn that off and depend on my blankets to keep me warm.
Last summer, my daughter gave me a thick goose down comforter that she had tried to use, but it was too warm for any conditions, because like normal folks they sleep with the heat on. I tried It on a couple of nights when it got down into the 40s, but that was still too warm to sleep under the comforter. I eventually figured out that the comforter needed temperatures in the 30s to become indispensable, and now that's when I use it, and it always keeps me comfortable at night.
It was a heavy wet snow but I didn't see any broken tree limbs in the neighborhood.
It's hard to believe day before yesterday it was in the mid-90s and I was complaining about the heat.... Now I'm complaining about the cold.... If it wasn't for the weather I'm sure I'd find something else to complain about.
There weren't many roses left, so I guess this will finish them off.
