It got right chilly last night, in the low 40s by my thermometer. But todays back in the 70s so it was fine. I don't mind a little chilly weather as long as it doesn't stay that way for a long time.
I went to the Safeway today and picked up a few things. It looked like there was a lot of Christmas dinner shopping going on, hams and turkeys were flying out the door. Not wanting to break with my normal Christmas tradition, I won't do my shopping until Christmas Eve that way I get to experience the real ambience of Christmas which is throngs of harried shoppers packed elbow to elbow in stores with mostly empty shelves fighting over scraps of whatever's left, accompanied by inane Christmas music blaring over the loudspeakers interrupted only by the occasional public service announcement of.....cleanup in aisle three, officer down in aisle 10, rioting on aisle 37 through 48.
I went to the Vulture Mine tour yesterday and it was only mildly interesting. As I had feared it was the same tour I went on a few years ago, except this time it cost $15. The saving grace is I was only there to take a few pictures because I learned from the first time I did the tour I knew more about mining than the tour guide did and almost as much about the Vulture Mine.
They are trying to fix the place up some, which means they're trying to make a few more of the buildings safe to go into as most of them have fallen into rack and ruin. To me the $15 is acceptable for one person, but they don't have a family discount and 60 bucks for a family of four is definitely out of line. You might say the new entrance fee could be looked at as a down payment on a better tour in the future but I don't think a family on vacation is going to see it that way.
