My Boondocking spot at a friend of a friend's house
I thought that I had learned my lesson about not traveling in the mountains on the weekend but somehow, through no fault of my own, well maybe a little bit,... Okay it was totally my fault. I ended up in the mountains on the weekend without a place to stay. But thanks to the kindness of others I am boondocked in the yard of a friend of a friend.
To make matters worse this is not an ordinary weekend this is a leaf season weekend when the mountains are full of people taking pictures of the changing leaves. And if that wasn't bad enough Monday is Columbus Day which is a 3 day weekend for some folks. So all of that conspired to make it extremely difficult to find a place to camp this weekend. So I feel very fortunate that I was lucky enough to have someone who would take me in and let me boondock in their yard for the night.
I'm hoping tomorrow I'll be able to find a Boondocking spot in the national forest. The national forest developed campsites are closed for the season and the two Colorado state parks in the area are full. But hopefully some folks have to go back to work Monday and I will be able to find a dispersed Boondocking site for me and the Arctic Fox in the Pike national forest.
I stopped at the Walmart in Woodland Park on the way up and bought a few things. Oh how I wish they allowed overnight parking at the local Walmart. But unfortunately the local RV parks got together and got ordinances passed making sure that Walmart couldn't do that. So now the overpriced local RV parks are full, and you cant overnight in a parking lot so people like me have to keep driving without staying in Woodland Park and spending some money... Thank you $40 a night RV parks.
