this is more difficult than I thought

Donkeys are not only stubborn but their intelligent and persistent, and I learned that from dealing with them on a daily basis when I was in Cripple Creek Colorado. And these attributes makes them the world's best panhandlers.

Beautiful day again today but it was a little breezy and I had some things I wanted to do today so I put off leaving the Riverside casino parking lot until tomorrow or the next day.

I went to the Verizon store this morning to see if I could get a jet pack so I could take advantage of the unlimited data deal that Verizon is offering and ended up not only waiting 45 minutes before somebody could talk to me, but learning a great deal about how Verizon stores operate.

I didn't realize it but there are two kinds of Verizon stores, corporate and contract. The corporate stores are owned and run by Verizon, and the contract stores are apparently just franchises that represent Verizon.

Now for most transactions it doesn't make much difference which one you go to but apparently the contract stores can't get certain items that the corporate stores have and also the contract stores don't do much business in what is called the "pre-pay plans" and know very little about them because their bread and butter is the postpaid plans which is what most of us have for our phones.

So I found out that this unlimited data plan that I want, that requires a jet pack, is a prepaid plan which is why the people I talked to at the store last week had never heard of it before even though it's right on Verizon's website. Now you do have to do some digging to find it but the contract stores don't do much rooting around in the prepaid area of the Verizon website because that's not where most of their business comes from and I apparently was the first one that ever mentioned it.

After I showed it to them on Verizon's website they said no problem we can fix you up. But when I told them that I wanted Verizon's latest, greatest, jet pack which is called the 8800L they found out it wasn't even listed in their system so it was unavailable to them. And that's when I found out that there are two kinds of Verizon stores.

Now if I had wanted an older model jet pack they really could have "fixed me up" right then but I was really hoping to get this more advanced model because it's already set up for 5G so I would be future proofed for a while. I'm not sure what my next move is, I can't find a corporate store anywhere around me so I may have to order it and have it mailed to me at my next two week stopover, or have it FedExed to a Verizon store.

I'm not exactly sure what I'll do at the moment but it does give me something to think about while I'm relaxing.

This tangle of power lines and or phone lines gives you a peek at the nonexistent building codes that's carrying Oatman into the future. I guess that's just part of its charm, I was just thankful the place didn't catch fire while I was there.

Each gift shop in Oatman had a subtle charm all its own. I would recommend wearing a hard hat or a motorcycle helmet before walking into this shop.

This is the hotel where famous actor and actress Clark Gable and Carole Lombard spent their honeymoon. I know they were famous but by the looks of things they must've been very very broke.

This looks like the ruins of an old Stamp mill. This place would've crushed up the ore to start the process of separating the gold from the host rock.

I said earlier that I didn't pet any of the Donkeys. That wasn't totally true as I did pet this little guy on the way back to my truck. He was off by himself standing in the shade, looking like he was taking a nap and seemed pretty new to this world, being only about the size of a large dog, so I couldn't resist. But I didn't let anybody see me because I didn't want to look like a tourist.
