Thoughts about my immediate future

If I had a nickel for all of my pics the readers have clicked, I would have well over 50 cents.

The beach has a whole different vibe on weekday mornings, as opposed to weekend mornings. I think weekday mornings the beach could be described as serene. It could also be described as a good time to walk on the beach.

I woke up this morning thinking I've been here long enough, and I need a new view. So tomorrow I will head in a northeasterly direction and stop wherever there's something to see.

One of the things I will stop and take a quick look at is the Bosque Del Apache. The Bosque is right on I-25 and less than an hour from Elephant Butte, and since I've got to drive right past it anyway, I think I will pull in there and see what's going on with the bird situation this time of year.

I don't anticipate there being much of anything going on with the birds since all of the big birds like the Snow Geese and the Sandhill Cranes are long gone. But I don't think I've been there this time of year, and if I have, it wasn't very memorable. So I think driving around the Bosque for about half an hour should tell me everything I need to know, and I'll be on my way again.

There are a couple of New Mexico state Parks east of me, like Sumner Lake state Park and Santa Rosa Lake State Park, that won't take me out of my way of getting to Colorado, and I should be able to stay at them until it's time for me to head back to Denver.

My only concern is, are they full? And do they have any first-come, first-serve sites? I used to be able to easily drive into a New Mexico State Park anytime I wanted, and there would be a place for me to boondock. But the bat flu changed all that, and now I never know until I get there.
