Tincup is changing, and In my opinion not for the better

It took over an hour to upload these two pictures, but it only takes a second to click them.

My latest boondocking spot just down the road from Tincup. There's national forest all around the Tincup area, so there's always plenty of boondocking available.

My Internet and phone service anywhere in the Tincup area is weak and spotty at best, so getting pictures to upload on my blog literally takes hours. So I probably won't show many Tincup pictures until I get better reception elsewhere.

I left Buena Vista at about 6 o'clock this morning and got into the mountains in time to see the sunrise. bearing in mind that sunrise in the mountains has more to do with the location of the mountains and how high they are than when the sun comes over the horizon.

It was another quiet, peaceful sleep last night, the only sound being the river's roar as it rushes over the boulders. It's funny how when I'm sleeping close to an interstate highway, I find the roar of the tires on the highway annoying, but the roar of the river is a peaceful sound that puts me to sleep. I'm not sure what the difference is because, actually, they both sound about the same.

Stopping only to top up my diesel fuel, I got to my current boondocking spot at about 8:30, and there are a lot of people here,  I would say It's more crowded than the last time I was here, and I thought the last time I was here, it was too crowded. There are ATVs and dirt bikes roaring around in every direction, and I'm not sure how long it will be before Tincup becomes an inhospitable place to me.

Until recently, Cottonwood pass that goes from Buena Vista to Tincup was only paved to the top of the pass, and going down the pass into, Tincup, it was dirt. The dirt road kept a lot of folks from coming to Tincup. But now it's a nice smooth paved road until you get to the Tincup area, where it turns back into dirt again. I knew when they did it, it would turn the Tincup area into a popular place, and if that was their goal, they succeeded.

Nothing stays the same, and when you start getting old, you realize how true that is. We, old geezers, get used to the way things were, and when something changes, it always seems like it changed for the worse. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't, but when you're used to the way things were in the past, any change is a problem.

The only good news is that the young people think change is great, and the old geezers won't be around long enough to affect anything, so everybody's happy. It reminded me of an old song by Joni Mitchell called "Big Yellow Taxi," that says,  "They pave paradise and put up a parking lot."....to me Tincup used to be almost paradise.
