I guess today's pictures could be categorized as "tiny things."

My son-in-law and I finished putting the new trampoline together before dark last night, and it seems to work; at least it's not upside down or something equally dangerous. So this morning, while my son-in-law was working, I started disassembling the old, small trampoline getting it ready to throw away. The kids got a lot of use out of the old one, which is why it was decided to get them a better one.

Since I now have a reservation at Red Rock County Park in Gallup, New Mexico, for the balloon rally in early December, I now have to be concerned about the weather. Gallup, New Mexico, is right on I-40, and for some strange reason, the I-40 corridor is well known for its unpredictable winter weather. It can be 80° in Phoenix, and less than 140 miles away in Flagstaff, the snow can be piling up enough to shut down I-40. And even though I don't like to have worries like that, sometimes there's no way to avoid making reservations, especially if you want to be anywhere near a big event. So I've paid my money, and I will take my chances.

Since I was considering one of the things I wanted to do this winter was to follow a portion of Route 66 through New Mexico and Arizona to be able to take some pictures of the old buildings from that era, Gallup might be a good place to be because route 66 went right through town. There are still a lot of motels and restaurants from back in the day. And since I'll be there for three days, I'm sure there will be plenty of time to take some route 66 pictures during the day.

Rose thorn. When I start taking pictures of the tiniest things around me, that's a clue I've run out of things to take pictures of.

I like macro photos myself. It's usually a lot easier to find something small to take pictures of than something grand and expansive, even though Colorado is famous for grand and expansive.

But as you know the longer we hang around someplace the harder it is to find a picture that hasn't been taken, and my lack of imagination makes it even more difficult.

Those are amazing photos! My only experience with macro photography was of model railroads--making them look real is easier with a macro lens.

Well thank you so much Linda. I literally stepped out the door of the Arctic Fox, in the rain, and took all three of those pictures in a couple of minutes, because I needed something for the blog, and my shoe-box of pictures was empty.

I think the first thing that got me interested in trains was those railfan magazines and their pictures of realistic model train set-ups, and I was truly amazed at the realism of the details in their dioramas.

And yes a macro lens definitely makes close-up pictures easier, but I was in a hurry so I just used the lens that stays on my camera most of the time, which is a Canon 24-240 zoom which I refer to as my walking around lens because it probably takes 98% of the pictures you see on my blog.

I'm in the process of reading your blog, and I really like the minimalist concept of determining "why" you need something. Unfortunately for me the heaviest things I carry around in an RV is tools, and I have a lot of them, some might say too many. And I think the reason I have so many is when I ask myself, "why?" The answer is easy "I need them to fix anything that can go wrong in an RV." And anyone that's ever owned an RV will understand perfectly.

In making the Lance more livable, I'm still using your concept of asking myself "where would I look for this", instead of where should I put this.

I kind of miss being interested in trains, I think I was mostly interested in old train paraphernalia, lanterns, oil cans, paperwork like railroad stock certificates, and tickets. Anything that pertained to steam trains, including a narrow gauge caboose sitting next to my Iron Horse restaurant. But collecting things like that in my current situation of living in an RV wouldn't be wise, so I've already gotten rid of a lot of it and what remains is in my storage room. And even though having a model train layout in the Lance would be fun, but would probably remove all doubts my family has about whether I should be living in an RVer or the Funny Farm.
