I spent part of the day, especially the cool part, loading the truck with my camping stuff. It apparently takes an amazing amount of stuff to keep me comfortable while camping. Needless to say there's absolutely zero chance I will ever be camping out of a backpack.
Some of the things I'm trying to accomplish with this weekend's minivacation is to see if this mountain of equipment works the way it should, and to see if I actually need this much equipment. I am carrying a few things that I won't normally carry like a few guns and the appropriate ammunition so I can do a little shooting this weekend. Plus there are bears and mountain lions at my property so I always wear a handgun and have a rifle handy "just in case" while I'm living out there.
Now that's not to mean that I'm in danger or that any wild critters have caused me any problems at all, in fact it's just the opposite. I feel safer out there than anyplace else I go. I've seen bears and I've seen mountain lions but they've always gone about their business and I go about mine, and so far we just leave each other alone. But you never know what a wild animal is going to do especially if it's sick, injured, or feel like they're protecting their young, these aren't Disney critters and I have no intention of facing them on their turf and being at a disadvantage.
