Two weeks is usually enough for me

This will be my last night at Storrie Lake State Park, and if the weather is okay, I'll be leaving tomorrow morning.

It will feel good to get back on the road again. Over the years, I have found that staying someplace for two weeks, just like the government requires for your maximum stay on public land, works out just about right for me. By that time, I've done everything I need to do, see everything I need to see, and if I haven't, no biggie, I can come back next year if I want to.

Now, of course, there are some places that I like to stay for more than two weeks; the County Fairgrounds in Tucson is one. There's a lot of things going on there, with the events they have most every weekend, so I like being able to stay there as long as I want.

Another place I enjoy settling down for a while longer is Ajo, Arizona. There's excellent boondocking there, and no one seems to care about how long you hang around as long as you don't make it look permanent. I'm not sure why I like it so much there, it could be the beautiful desert scenery, or maybe the peace and quiet of the area, or perhaps it's the laid-back attitude of the place. Still, whatever it is, I do enjoy being there and hope all of that isn't being destroyed by the current administration's open border policy.

So as I close the door on my sixth year of full-timing, I have to say I'm just as happy as I was when I first started. But I think that finding a smaller, easier to deal with RV will open up more boondocking opportunities for me and relieve me of some of the stress of towing an RV the size of the Arctic Fox.

The Tee-Pee style tent has been around forever but usually much taller than this one. This size only allows one tall person to stand up at a time.

Other than thinking they don't have to worry about snakes, I'm not sure what this tent accomplishes.

I've spent enough time camping in tents to know it's more advantageous to be able to park your car in one place, and pitch your tent in another.

Since the car is sitting on springs, I would think on a windy day that tent would be moving around enough to make me seasick.

And since I get annoyed just putting the top down on my little Bronco slide-in truck camper, I imagine having to take all your camping gear apart and fold up your tent would be more than I could stand just to run to the store for a bag of ice.

And they had better pull up their ladder at night because there's a lot of snakes that can climb trees.
