Sunset settles over my property.

I'm spending the night at my property near 11-mile state Park, which is why you're not receiving this the day I wrote it. Even though it's annoying sometimes not to have a phone or Internet at my property, it's also kind of relaxing knowing the phones not going to ring, and I'm not going to waste any time watching YouTube videos.

My family went back to Denver this morning. Their camping trip is over, and they have to take the rented travel trailer back to the person they rented it from tomorrow.

I wasn't quite ready to go back to the Denver heat just yet, so I thought I would hang around for a little while and go back Monday. I miss being with the family, but I'm happy to get away from all the bugs that hang around 11 mile reservoir in the summertime.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to go to a little semi-ghost town near here called Guffey. It used to be a mining town, but it became a real ghost town when the gold played out. Now, 30 people live there, and they actually have a post office, so it doesn't qualify as a ghost town anymore. I used to go there every once in a while to pan for gold, and soak up some ghost town ambiance. But I don't think I've been there in 20 years or more.

Rain and spring runoff is eating up the Jeep trail going to the property. Fortunately there's another way of getting there if need be.

When I got up this morning the sun was just rising over the mountains behind me and lighting the tips of the mountains in front of me. It was 43°.

You're a rich man. I hope you know that. Not only having this spot, but also a fine family. Enjoy!! And keep taking beautiful photos.
Your bird expertise is exceptional well. Seems like about the same level as your wildflower expertise.

I do have a wee bit of trouble telling one flower from another but I actually do know the names of a large amount of flowers. In fact I probably know the names of 90% of the flowers in the entire world. The problem is I never take pictures of those flowers. No matter how hard I try I always end up taking pictures of the very few flowers that I don't know the name of.

And as for birds, my knowledge of birds and their various permutations is so extensive that I often show pictures of birds on my blog that are so permutated the average person doesn't recognize them. But my many years of studying bird books written by the birds themselves gives me an insight into the intricacies of Birdlyness that enable me to recognize a bird not only by the arrangement of its individual feathers but by looking into its mind and seeing what kind of bird he thinks he is... It's a gift, and I am compelled to share it with others.

Great views at that campsite. If I owned land like that, I would be sorely tempted to spend a lot of summer there. But I don’t have grandkids yet.

I do love that place John. I've had other properties most of which I bought just to sell, but I bought this place just because it was special to me with no intention of ever selling it. And with any luck I'll just leave it to my relatives under some kind of a complicated tenancy in common agreement that would make it extremely difficult for it to be sold, that way it will always remain in the family.

Grandkids are a powerful force in life as they represent our only shot at immortality. They carry with them your memory into the future, so it's wise to make those memories good ones. Which is one of the reasons I would like to keep the land in the family so the kids and the grandkids can associate the good times they have out there with me.
