Clicking the pics might bring a smile to your face..... But who needs the extra wrinkles.

I liked this guy, I took several pictures of him while he was out in the middle of the lake, and in every picture he was smiling.

I'm sure he could think of a lot of things that would prevent him from smiling, most old folks can, and do. but apparently he is happy to be fishing in a canoe that he's highly modified and fits perfectly the way that he likes to fish...

Would you imagine that fishermen in their $75,000 go-fast boats are enjoying their fishing experience anymore than this guy? Highly unlikely. And that's enough to make even me smile just watching him.

What a difference a day makes; looking up and down the beach, there are three people here. How great it must feel to the Park Rangers that work here to go from a beach full of people to almost nobody, no problems, no hassles, no drunks; once they get the weekend trash picked up, weekdays must be like a vacation for the employees.

Of course, if the Park Rangers are bored, I could complain about the noisy birds running around on the bronco's roof; it's amazing how one tiny little bird up there sounds like a whole herd of raccoons having a hoedown on my roof. I could also complain about the various soft sand areas I have to avoid when driving around or the limited amount of water faucets on the beach.

But then again, since I've stayed here way over my legal limit, maybe I shouldn't do anything to draw attention to myself. But I guess I'll keep waving at the Rangers as they drive by; I don't want them to think I'm not neighborly.

I'm starting to feel like I've been here at the Elephant long enough, and I need a new view, maybe not immediately, but certainly by sometime this week. I don't know where I will go, but I want to continue heading North.

I should mosey on up to Las Vegas, New Mexico, for some free boondocking at Storrie Lake State Park, but the ten-day forecast has eight of those days with high winds, so I'm not sure if that's what I want to do or not.

I'm sure I will come up with something, but if I do, I probably won't tell myself, because you know how much I love surprises.

It takes a lot of ingenuity to be a boondocker, because a boondocker often faces hurdles that have to be overcome.

And in this case the hurdle is an extremely unlevel beach, and this boondocker has overcome that problem by raising his low-side wheels as much as possible, and digging a trench for his high-side wheels to sit in.

Then he has to put some cribbing under his trailer tongue to raise it higher than normal which levels the trailer fore and aft.

This picture reinforces my belief in the benefits of boondocking. Most RVers live in RV parks, and they have to leave the RV Park and drive to where they can have fun. Boondocker's live where they are having fun. Boondocker's don't have to visit the beach, boondocker's live on the beach. And this applies not just to fishing, but a lot of other hobbies that people enjoy.

This is a Blue-Billed Evil Eyed Gribble. Most birds in the Gribble family are perfectly harmless, make excellent pets, or an exquisite meal. But the Blue-Billed Evil Eyed Gribble is extremely dangerous, and it's not just his disturbing haircut making him that way.... Although it does contribute to his fowl mood..... Get it; FOWL mood??? I crack myself up!

Those bright red eyes of his can cast an evil spell on anyone within range, and in this case he was 30 or 40 feet from where I was taking his picture standing on the side of the Marina, and he cast an evil spell on me that from now until the end of eternity, all of my pictures will look embarrassingly bad..... My first thought was; how will I be able to tell the difference?

I would keep an eye on the fire situation outside of Las Vegas, NM. It appears to be getting close to the Lake and the City.

Thank you so much that information Larry, other than the weather I haven't paid much attention to what's been going on around me lately.

The fire appears to be in the hills right across the Lake from Storrie Lake state Park where I usually stay, which seems way too close to me. And the latest weather forecast is calling for about 10 more days of high winds in the area which makes it difficult to tell which way the fire is going to go, so if nothing else, the smoke, and the chance of Storrie Lake State Park shutting down with little notice should be enough to keep me out of there.

Thanks again for the heads up Larry, fortunately I don't make very many plans so it shouldn't be to hard to find another way to get back to Colorado.

Have you ever considered that some people you take pictures of may not want to posted on the World Wide Web? Especially children. It is inconsiderate to publish people without their consent. My opinion.

When I first saw your comment I wasn't sure if I should answer it or not, and it took me a while but I decided that since you took the time to make the comment, and express your opinion, the least I could do is answer it.

So; no actually I don't feel that it's inconsiderate to post people's pictures on my blog, and its also not illegal. My reading of the law says that if people are in public places they have abrogated their right to privacy and are automatically assumed to have given their consent to have their picture taken.

But you're talking about whether it's inconsiderate or not, so let me address that. Many years ago I might have agreed that it could be inconsiderate to put someone's picture in something like a newspaper, without their permission. But now days if you look at all the pictures and videos of strangers that are walking by on the Internet it would be extremely difficult to keep that from happening.

In fact there is a type of photography where professionals called Street Photographers, walk up and down city streets taking pictures of random people, and without the random persons permission then SELL the pictures. It's considered very artsy, but I wouldn't consider doing that for any amount of money.

Looking at other folks blogs I see pictures of random people, relatives, friends, grandkids, and I don't believe there inconsiderate for doing so. Is there a certain amount of danger involved in that? Maybe, but its probably so small as to be incalculable.

I believe that the government, and businesses, especially Internet businesses, gather and sell so much information on us through our computers, our phones, and other technology that we literally have no privacy left, and more technologies are being developed every day to track everything we do.

So like I said, a long time ago I would've been totally against losing ANY of our privacy whether it be an image, or personal information. But that ship has sailed, next time you're in a Walmart count the cameras inside the store and outside in the parking lot. There's plenty of pictures of me, you, and almost everybody else that has been made public, or will be made public, its just a matter of time.

The exception for me is Amish people. They believe photographs are graven images so do not allow them. Even their dolls do not have faces. I also would not publish pictures where children can be identified but taken from the back is fine. I do wonder if I could accidentally take a picture of someone in a witness protection program but what are the odds of that?

I'm not around to many Amish folks so that shouldn't be a problem for me. I've taken pictures of Indians before even though they believe that taking their picture steals there soul. The problem is kids pictures, including my own grandkids. I see an awful lot of grandkids on blogs that appeal to us older folks, and minors plaster their faces all over Facebook, tiktok, and every other social media platform.

I know it doesn't sound right to put kids pictures on the Internet, but I'm not sure what the harm actually is if there's no useful information with the picture. I spent a few minutes looking online about the danger of posting minors pictures, and after a very brief perusal, only found information about the dangers of kids using computers posting things about themselves.

I'm not sure what the right thing to do is, but I do know it would be difficult for me to not show pictures of my grandkids. Thank you for that comment Linda. It's always good to hear another opinion.

I was talking bout posting pictures of strangers kids without their permission. I love your pictures of your grandkids. Please, do keep posting theirs.

Don't worry Linda, I'm not going to stop showing pictures of the grandkids, I can't help it, it's built into the DNA of grandpas.
