Umm. They're all foul? Or is that fowl?

Yes, yes. Go see the cranes. Where I live in Texas, I used to see them high over head every spring and fall, I always heard them first. If you really want to see them, go to Muleshoe TX. (I suspect the San Luis valley will be just as gratifying.) It looked like the old movies of b-52's approaching during WWIi, minute after minute of flights.....all in a nice arrangement, constantly appearing on the horizon.. Only thing I would suggest, which you may anticipate from your prior experience, is locating yourself upwind from the landing site. Vastly diffferent eperiences can be had depending on wind direction .

I'm leaning heavily towards going to visit the Sandhill Cranes when they migrate to an area somewhere close to me. Since I'm coming to realize that I enjoy my travels more when I have some kind of a reason for going someplace other than just a change of scenery.

I find that chickens can be both foul and fowl depending on how they're prepared. Hummingbirds on the other hand can be neither fowl or foul because they're far too cute to be either. Robins? Who knows?
