What to do about the batteries?

Even if you click the pic you probably still won't know where it's at.

If you don't know what you're looking at, this could easily be mistaken for a beach somewhere, but its actually Sand Dunes National Park and this whole expanse of water is only three or four inches deep.

It's still hot in Denver, and it looks like in the next four days, the high temperatures are going to be almost 100°. Those temperatures don't bother me as much as they did because I think I'm getting used to them. I get things done early in the morning and then lay low during the afternoon heat.

One thing I forgot to mention when I was asked what projects I have coming up next, I should've said putting a couple of the Arctic Fox's lithium iron batteries in the Lance. Just like last winter, I'm going to carry all four lithium-iron batteries with me during my winter travels, but I'm not sure if I will have more than two of them hooked up.

I know I can get two lithium-iron batteries in the battery box, and I think I might be able to get three. But since I don't think I can get the fourth one in the box, maybe I can find a way to hook it up to the rest of the batteries, even if it's only nearby and not in the battery box where it should be

I custom-made all the cables for the batteries for their current position under the bed of the Arctic Fox, but those cables probably won't work for the different positions the batteries will be laid out in the Lance. I think I've got enough spare cable and ring terminals laying around to do the job, but to make the cables, I need to have the batteries laid out in the position they're going to stay while in the Lance, and at present, I don't know what position that will be

I don't want to take all the batteries out of the Arctic Fox right now because I'm living in the Arctic Fox and need the batteries. I've thought about taking two of the batteries out of the Fox and putting them in the Lance. That way, I can at least make cables for two batteries.

Or I could wait till about a week before I leave Denver for my winter travels, and move into the Lance permanently, and put all four batteries in the Lance at that time.

But whatever I do, I want to avoid schlepping the batteries back and forth between the Arctic Fox and the Lance because even though they weigh half what a lead acid battery weighs, it's still no fun toting them around.

Have you got a good feel for what will be done with the Fox after your mind is made up about the traveling set up in the Lance. That Fox will be a good unit for some lucky person if you sell it.

I have a couple more weeks before my next Dr. appointment yet but I am really hoping for good news for my situation. For now I am hoping all I will need is a new set of glasses before I roll. But no guarantees that will happen like that.

My oldest son has told me recently that he would like to buy the Arctic Fox, and he's very familiar with the Fox, since he was with me when I bought it. If he buys it it will be a big benefit to me because I won't have to take every single thing out of the trailer. Since I give my sons a lot of my stuff, I can leave a whole lot of things in the trailer that I can't fit into the Lance even if I wanted to. That would relieve me of the burden of finding a way to get rid of all the stuff in the trailer, that's too good to throw away, but probably not worth all the time and effort to sell it.

I'm sure you well be perfectly fine Barney, you seem to be progressing well and if you can just avoid falling on your face for a while longer I'm certain the doctor will give you the go-ahead to continue with your regular life.

I imagine you'll have to figure out when and which way you'll be heading so you can make whatever reservations may be necessary, so you'll have to determine when or if you feel like traveling pretty soon.

Like I mentioned before I won't be heading out of Denver until late October and I haven't made up my mind what I'm going to do yet. Right now I think I'm either going to spend some time at the Bosque Del Apache in New Mexico, and take some pictures of the birds. Or I'm thinking of following the old route of Highway 66 through New Mexico and Arizona, and taking pictures of the old buildings, and ghost towns that are all along the original Highway 66 route.

I've still got plenty of time left on my New Mexico annual parks pass so northern New Mexico wouldn't be a bad place to be until it starts getting cold and I need to head South.

Take care of yourself Barney, I'm sure at jump school they must've taught you, you just can't keep landing on your head, so bend your knees and land on your feet, and you'll have many more years of having toooo much fun.

Geez. The Sand Dunes look like someplace way way up north...like Alaska, or anywhere, as long as it 's way way north. (Oh, by the way, apparently the family dog you disparage was looking like a regular dog in some water in the photo a few days ago. A dog will be a dog, even though you don't think it could. But I guess you did, as you took the photo.)

Pictures can certainly be deceiving, which is why you can't trust everything you see. Especially on the Internet.

Not being a big fan of little foo foo dogs I do on numerous occasions cast doubt on his canine bona fides, and may even make reference to his lineage being more feline than canine, but he knows who takes care of him, and feeds him, when the families off someplace that's not dog friendly.
