What's the difference between a rut and a grave?

Clicking the pics indicates a quest for knowledge, and an appreciation of all things beautiful ... Or maybe your finger slipped.

I don't know what these flowers are called but they somewhat resemble a trumpet. So I wonder if trumpet could be in their name.

The smoke in the air is not as bad as yesterday, but it rained some last night, so maybe that cleaned up the air a little.

Well, here it is the middle of August, and I haven't been doing very much. I haven't spent much time running around town. I haven't taken a real mini-vacation yet. In fact, the only thing I've actually done this summer is go to the Hill climb race in Monarch for a few days. I did go for a walk at the Lair O The Bear, walked around Roxborough Park, and visited Red Rocks Amphitheater, but that's not  much to have done considering the summer is mostly over.

Now I have an explanation; some people may call it an excuse, for my laziness or lack of motivation letting most of the summer slide by, when you would assume I would be spending the limited number of summers I have available at my age more wisely.

But, all the smoke in the air has been a real problem. The fires out West and the prevailing winds have made the mountains almost invisible at times and certainly not conducive to running around the high country taking landscape pictures of my beautiful Rocky Mountains or boondocking in the little Bronco up in the high lonesome. So the smoky landscape has kept me home.

The Bat flu, instead of just being a bad memory, is still hanging on with mask requirements here and there, and with more than a little concern about me still catching it, even though I've had both of my shots since the beginning of summer. So that's enough for me to stay away from crowds. It's

And, probably my best reason for not doing much of anything is everybody and his brother decided to spend their summer vacation in Colorado this year. The mountains have been packed with crowds of tourists in their floppy REI hats and REI pants, reeking of sunblock and sticking out like a sore thumb from the folks that actually live in the mountains, who like me, wear blue jeans and a T-shirt for virtually every occasion except hunting season when we put on a Carhart coat.

So considering those things, I may have plausible reasons, or at least somewhat believable excuses, for not doing much this summer. But I don't like it; I don't like it one bit.

I need to be enjoying my time, but I feel I've gotten into a rut by doing the same things over and over, day after day, when I could be doing something interesting or at least making plans for doing something interesting. I need a road trip ! a new view ! I need to put on my traveling shoes.....  I need to throw down my shovel and stop digging this rut deeper. Because to me, the only difference between a rut and a grave is  backfill.

It's not a leaf, it's not a flower, it's a thing.

Walking around my daughter's neighborhood the other day I saw this brand-new shiny fifth wheel sitting right next to an old and not so shiny fifth wheel. And it made me wonder why anyone would need two fifth wheel trailers? I have one and that seems like more than enough. So I figured the guy  and his wife don't get along very well, and take separate vacations.

Walking by this house the very next day my concern about their marriage turned out to be wrong as there was a "for sale" sign on the old, not so shiny fifth wheel.

The day after that, the shiny new fifth wheel was still sitting there unharmed, and the old, not so shiny fifth wheel had completely disappeared, as if by magic.

Using my sizable powers of deductive reasoning, I determined this probably means there's a Witch living in the neighborhood that has the power to make rather large RVs completely disappear with a wave of her magic wand.

Or, not as likely, but still within the realm of possibility, it could mean that RVs are selling before the ink is dry on the "for sale" sign.

Personally I think it's a Witch. That makes a lot more sense to me because when I walk through the neighborhood women stare at me, and occasionally throw things while yelling strange incantations, obviously wishing I was somewhere else. And those are all signs of Witches.
