I saw lots of young groups when I was in Salida. I don't know what they were doing but they were all wearing some kind of uniform.

The weather hasn't been too hot lately, mostly in the 80s; it clouds up and rains on most afternoons, which is fine with me because it cools everything off and gives me a better night's sleep.

Because of the El Niño weather pattern that we are supposed to be in, I've been looking at some long-range weather forecasts to see what the El Niño is supposed to do. Some weather guessers have said that in the past, El Niño's are an indication that the South, including the Southwest, will be wetter and cooler than normal, including all my normal winter travel areas such as Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

Wetter and cooler is exactly how I would describe last winter in Arizona and New Mexico, so I'm not very happy with that forecast. But who knows? They're just going on what happened previously and assuming that's what will happen again so I won't worry about it. I don't know where else I could go and get away from cooler, wetter weather, anyway except maybe Miami, Florida. But other than that, I'll deal with whatever I'm faced with and make the best of it.......and speaking of making the best of it.


                                 An Ode To Full-timing

I'm really terrible at making plans, and schedules aren't my thing, but I have some expertise enjoying whatever life may bring. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's cold, I'm seldom satisfied, but as I watch the morning sun as it rises in the sky, I can see this newborn day will put a twinkle in my eye. And I know no matter where I'm at that I can still enjoy the woods and desert that surround this old stable-boy. So let it rain, bring on the cold I'll manage to survive, cause nothing will stop my joy of living as long as I'm alive.

Old Main Street in Buena Vista. I do love old movie theaters, and this Pearl Theater looks like something from the 1950s. Even though the building it's in, is probably from the late 1800s

Thank you Barney, that was my first "Ode," but there could be others. I've been told that I could be an oder if I keep writing odes.... Or maybe they said I had an oder, I can't remember now, but it sounded like a compliment.

You know and probably remember Falcon County Park and its totally free stay as long as you want policy. I hope to make it back down there again this year.

Yeah I remember Falcon County Park, and that sounds about as good as any other place for the winter, depending on the weather.

But for someone who lived for many years in the most humid place in the entire country, and that would be me living in Miami Florida. I am finding it more and more difficult to deal with high humidity. I know high humidity makes the cold colder, and the heat hotter, but you would think that about 20 years of living in the only jungle environment in America I would've built up a tolerance. And maybe at one time I did but the older I get the less I'm able to deal with high humidity, and the mosquitoes that always seem to accompany it.

But I haven't given up on visiting Texas, it still has a lot to offer, after all it is a whole nother country.

The super low humidity is a main attraction for me at Falcon and west Texas. I have fought the high humidity most of my life also from the Texas coast to the swamps of Alabama where I am now. You have the high humidity pegged perfectly in your description of living in it. Have fun anyway.

Yeah Barney, it sure is nice to be able to go for a walk around here without spraying myself with insect repellent, and sweating like a hog before I've walked a 100 feet.

The main reason I left Miami was of course the crime, the drugs, and the drug dealers accidentally killing people they didn't mean to. But the other reason was having to deal with the bugs and the humidity. I had grown up in the South so I was used to the bugs and humidity, but while working at Homestead Air Force Base, in South Florida, as a civilian I had the opportunity to attend an all expense paid one-week tech school at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, and even though it was in October and it snowed a little, I was amazed at how I was able to walk around wearing a long sleeved shirt... Which I had to buy when I got there since I didn't own one, I should've been cold, but the low humidity made it very tolerable.... and people weren't shooting each other, I believe at the time I had more shootings in my Miami neighborhood than the entire state of Colorado..... So I fell in love with Colorado.

And now over the years it has become more and more difficult for me to deal with the high humidity when trying to escape winter weather. It appears there's two kinds of States where winters are tolerable, high humidity states, and low humidity states and you may notice I tend to gravitate to the low humidity States where both high and low temperatures are much easier for me to tolerate.

I knew you were a poet but this one tops them all.

I wonder if those kids are some sort of water sport team. A kayak team used to practice rolling over in the swimming pool where I did water aerobics. They had matching swim suits.

Thank you Linda, you're very kind. My life isn't very interesting, in fact living in a home with wheels is the only thing that differentiates my life from normal folks, so thinking of something to say in a blog post every day is difficult to say the least. I've long given up on saying something interesting, and have settled on just saying "something."

So sometimes I try to do something different, like writing a poem, just so I don't get to bored writing about my life... After all, you have a choice to read it or not.... But I don't have a choice.... I have to read it.

You know, some kind of a water sports team is a good idea. Most of their "uniforms" did resemble bathing suits, more than a track and field kind of uniform.
