When you can't think of anything else to talk about, you talk about the weather

Another hot day today, it got up to the high 90s. I've only been back to Denver for a few days, and already I feel like I need another mini-vacation into the mountains.

My days here in Denver are becoming very routine, mostly because of the hot weather. I usually do a few odd jobs on the Lance in the morning before it gets too hot, and then by 10 o'clock or so, I stop doing anything that requires any effort or exertion on my part and mostly relax. This isn't exactly what I would like to be doing, but it's all I feel like doing due to the heat.

Sometimes in Colorado, when the weather is kind of extreme, it can change rather suddenly; for instance, some Springs, the snow will drag on forever until you think it's never going to stop snowing, and then one day in early June, you'll wake up. It's 80° outside, all the snow is gone, and it will be summer.

And the same sort of thing can happen in the summer. The heat can drag on till late August or early September, and suddenly, you wake up, and it's snowing; its Fall and the highs every day are in the 60s. I don't know if that will happen this year, but it wouldn't surprise me the way things are going.

Another entrepreneur's dreams of wealth and fame in small town America is ground into the dusty streets of reality, leaving nothing but a boarded-up building, broken hearts, broken dreams, and insurmountable legal bills.... Been there, done that.

Some ancient piece of farm equipment. It was amazing how little attention was given to the safety aspect of farm equipment, it seemed like every piece of equipment a farmer used not only made the farmer's life easier but was designed to remove as many arms and legs as a farmer could spare.

And of course the farmer had kids, and every kid the farmer had was out working in the field around equipment just like this... I wonder how many nine-year-old kids just disappeared into a bale of hay by the end of the day.

They don't build them like this anymore, and probably just as well. The workmanship and amount of metal that went into these cars would probably make it cost as much as a Ferrari.
