Whitewater rafting in ice water? No thanks!

I've got some free time since my son drove up to Idaho Springs, Colorado, to do some white water rafting. The weather is just about perfect, high 70s in the Denver area but where he'll be in the mountains it'll be a bit chillier, and the river water will be icy cold. But he deals with cold much better than he does with the heat.

We haven't been going places and doing a lot, mostly just talking and catching up on old times. He doesn't have to do much catching up on my life because he can read what I've been up to in my blog, so it's mostly me asking how his life's been going. And he's doing well.

He's working lots of overtime which he likes, and is happy to be out of the heat and humidity of Florida and back in Montana's cool, dry weather. Florida was great for fishing, which he enjoyed more than anything. Still, the kind of humidity he was dealing with in Florida was something he had never experienced before. So he concluded that the cool mountain air of the summer and even the winter snow was preferable to the sweaty summer weather and the horrendous mosquitoes of Florida. I, of course, agree with that, except for that thing about the snow. But fortunately for me, I can escape the snow and the bitter cold by moseying down south every Fall.

He's going to meet up with a friend here in Colorado, and they're going camping in the southern mountains around Durango, Colorado, for the holidays, which sounds great to me, except for the holiday crowds, which I had rather not have to deal with.

He will return to Denver later this summer, hitch up the Arctic Fox and tow it back to Montana. That will give me more time to work on the Arctic Fox, get it all cleaned up, and hook up the new battery he bought. Unlike me, he doesn't need more than one battery because he doesn't boondock.

When I saw my eight year old grandson laying on the floor coloring I thought he was coloring in a coloring book, but looking closer I figured out that this was an empty notebook, and he has drawn, not traced, and colored all of these cartoon characters in his notebook, I couldn't believe how good they were. His mom and dad are both very artistic so maybe that would explain it.
