why can't things just stay the same?

I'm happily boondocking on school trust lands where there's plenty of room for everyone.

School lands are broken down into "Sections" where if I remember correctly from back in the day when I was buying and selling land, a section is one square mile, or 640 acres. And in Arizona they have thousands upon thousands of sections of land that are in the Trust.

The area I'm at has a large vacant area, down on the right side of the picture, where most of the people prefer to boondock, but there's plenty of other areas off to the sides where you can boondock if you don't want to be around a crowd.

It's a little cloudy today, but not enough to keep my batteries from being charged up by lunchtime. The weather forecast shows very cloudy weather for the next three days. Hardly any rain is predicted, but I'll have to limit the use of my power sucking 17-inch Asus laptop until the cloudy weather blows over.

Hopefully, The cloudy weather will make taking pictures more interesting, but the clouds will mostly be gone by the time the "End of Trail" cowboy shoot is going on, so the clouds shouldn't affect things either way.

When I was driving into Wickenburg yesterday, it appeared the town had expanded more than the last time I was here. It's a popular place, and appears to be growing by leaps and bounds. The Safeway parking lot has always been on the small side, but it's getting to the point where I had to hunt for a parking space of any kind, and if Safeway doesn't do something, it looks like they'll reach a point where it's impossible to park there, which is made worse by the horse trailers.

You may remember I've mentioned that Wickenburg fancies itself as the cowboy capital of Arizona, and regarding team roping I think they're right, because there are a lot of horse trailers driving around town and often stopping for groceries at Safeway, which puts a major strain on Safeway's smallish parking lot.

I don't know what Safeway can do because the area around them is built up, with no place to expand the parking lot. And the other grocery store in town which is a Bashas' is closer to downtown, so the parking lot looks to me to be even smaller than Safeway's.

This is a problem towns face when they grow. The little mountain town of Woodland Park, where I lived in Colorado, had only one stop-light and dirt streets when I moved there, and when I left, there were four or five stop-lights, paved roads, and a Walmart....truth be known, I liked it the way it was.

But nothing stays the same, there's always change and those that don't change are left behind. And the people most often left behind are the old, and why is that? Because old people can't or don't want to change, we want things to stay just the way we remember them, but things never stay the same, the minute we walked out the door things changed, and the only thing left of the past we once knew is our rapidly fading memories.

Since this is Arizona, I assume most of the trust lands are "Open range." And any time you're on open range you have to assume there may be livestock present and you will be held responsible for any livestock you injure. So sharing my boondocking spot with a cow or horse is fairly common and appreciated much more than the two legged Invaders.
