I had a fairly peaceful night last night. It's always good to get back into the desert after being in an RV Park. I do have a neighbor about 150 yards away that has a loud generator, but when I get inside and close the door I can't hear it anymore. I'm not sure if that's due to the Arctic Fox's excellent insulation, or my poor hearing, either way it works.
I was here a few years ago so I'm pretty familiar with Congress and I like camping in this BLM boondocking area. It's clearly marked as 14 day boondocking and there's plenty of places scattered throughout the brush to pull off the road and camp.
One of the reasons I came back here this time is I like visiting old cemeteries even though they make me very sad, I know that's weird but I like history and cemeteries are a part of history. I knew there was an old cemetery here. But looking at this area on Google Earth a while back I accidentally spotted another cemetery maybe half a mile from the one I've been to.
Now I'm not sure why they have two cemeteries that close together but several reasons come to mind, and one of the reasons is they may have run out of room in the oldest cemetery and started a new one. And if that's the case the other cemetery that I haven't been to may be the oldest one because there still burying people in the one that I've seen.
I haven't been to the other one yet but I'm looking forward to seeing it especially if it's older than the other one. But one of the problems with the older ones is if the folks were poor they marked the graves with wooden head markers which have usually disappeared over time and if no one lined the grave with rocks the graves disappear other than a small depression in the ground.
I'll probably go visit the other cemetery early tomorrow morning because the light will be better then. It's kind of odd being in a town where the most interesting thing to do is visit the cemetery, but yeah... That's Congress.
No this isn't a 100-year-old picture of Congress Arizona, this is what it looks like today.
Congress Arizona windmill
Okay I'm joking, but if Walmart did build here, this is probably what it would look like.
