why I stay at home on holidays

I'm sure everyone is off somewhere having fun today, so if you have any energy left when you get home, don't forget to click the pics.

The family Truckster loaded up and ready to go camping. Are they going camping for two weeks?.....  Nope!  Two days!

The Labor Day holiday has started, and there's hardly an RV left in the neighborhood..... boats either. And the peace and quiet of the neighborhood is already apparent.

If I had a death wish, I would drive to Chatfield State Park and see what's happening, but since I already know what's happening, there's no need.

A ten-car line at the gate will probably continue until the park is full and they close the gate shortly before lunch.

The campground will be overflowing with people who camp three times a year and can't imagine why you don't love their endlessly barking dog as much as they do. And have no idea why you would be bothered by an incredibly loud contractor generator that they have set closer to your campsite than there's.

people will be parked helter-skelter in every available empty spot until even a Hells Angel can't find a spot to park his motorcycle.

The beach will have scattered beach towels and shelters four feet apart, covering every inhabitable area on the swim beach.

The paved hiking and biking trails will have a mix of middle-aged people getting their yearly exercise, old geezers shuffling down the trail as slow as a human being can walk, little kids running at top speed a hundred yards ahead of their parents, and mixed in with that crowd of folks will be bicyclists pretending they're on the Tour de France and weaving between the walkers at top speed.

Boaters will fill the lake, so you can almost walk across the lake, jumping from boat to boat. And any empty spot will have dozens of jet skis zooming around, getting as many people wet, that didn't want to be wet, as possible.

Picnic tables will be full, porta-potties will overflow, any device capable of producing music will be turned up full blast, and anyone who arrived in a holiday mood will be contemplating suicide by lunch.

And you wonder why I'm happier at home?

Heading down the road everyone in the family is in a great mood and happy to be going camping. Except the family Hamster who, in order to lighten the load, will have to run behind the car as soon as they get on the interstate.
