Working hard, or hardly working?

I woke up this morning feeling energetic and having the desire to accomplish something useful. I'm not too fond of those feelings because they always end up limiting my relaxing time.

But sometimes, life requires me to briefly get up out of my easy chair, put my nose to the grindstone, my shoulder to the wheel, get down to business, and accomplish something useful before everything around me falls apart.

Often as not, I sit back down and give a lot of thought to.... How bad could it be if everything around me falls apart? I would just have to sit here in Quartzsite for the rest of my life, and I kind of like Quartzsite. But then I start thinking about having to deal with the crowds during the Big Show. And how in the summer it's going to be 120°, and my batteries won't run the air conditioner. And I wouldn't get to see my family and have some real home cooking instead of the only thing I can cook, which is popcorn.

Thinking about all that makes me get up out of my easy chair again and start to get some things done that never seem to get done while I'm just relaxing and thinking about doing them. Even at my advanced  age I still feel as though my intentions should be enough to get me through life.

So I went into town, filled up the truck with diesel, and took a few pictures. Getting back to the Arctic Fox, I leveled up the tire pressure to 75 psi on the four new tires I bought in Wickenburg. Big O tires was a little lax in making sure the tires were all pumped up to the same pressure.

I also re-torqued the lug nuts on all four wheels to 120 foot pounds since you're supposed to do that at around 50 miles after your wheels have been reinstalled.

And then I pumped up my spare trailer tire to 75 psi, which required me having to remove the spare from under the Arctic Fox, where it's hoisted into place the same way most pickup truck spare tires are stored. That was the most challenging part of my whole day, having to crawl under the trailer and remove the spare tire so I could get to the Schrader valve.

It wouldn't have been so bad, but the spare tire is mounted on an old-fashioned steel 16-inch wheel, instead of the fancy-schmancy aluminum wheels that are on the trailer, the thing is so darn heavy I could barely lift it off the ground. The factory probably did that to save a couple of dollars on the spare wheel since nobody can see it anyway unless you have a flat tire.

All that turned out to be way more work than I had planned on doing in one day and is going to require a lot of relaxing time before I'll build up enough energy or ambition to do that again.

My Quartzsite boondocking neighborhood.

No these RVs aren't anywhere near me, in fact their a couple hundred yards away which is just about perfect for social distancing while boondocking.

More neighbors, but again, at least 100 yards away. Quartzsite is a lot more peaceful when the noisy Big Show crowds have moved on.
