Another beautiful morning in Denver. We're all having to break the Denver days into two parts now because it seems like the same thing happens on most days; up until two or three o'clock in the afternoon, the weather is great, sunny skies and 75°. But by early afternoon, it clouds up and often rains.

Those rains won't be the kind of toad floaters you experience in the South; they're more like a heavy sprinkle that will only last ten or fifteen minutes and then blow over and possibly do it again an hour or two later. But because of the chilly temperatures at higher altitudes, these rains are, more often than not, accompanied by hail.

This hail, thankfully, is usually small pea-sized hail which doesn't do much damage except to the pedals of any blooming flowers. But it certainly makes a cacophonous racket beating on the roof of the Lance. Hail hitting the roof of the Arctic Fox was annoying; hail hitting the roof of the Lance can damage your hearing!

 I can look out the window of the Lance and see pea-sized hail hitting the ground, and it doesn't look like a big deal, but inside the Lance, you would think the world is ending. I know the Arctic Fox has much more insulation in the roof than the Lance, but I never realized how much that extra insulation deadens the sounds of what's going on outside.

 I've talked before about how quiet the Arctic Fox was when parked in a noisy location like a Walmart parking lot, but I never realized what a huge difference all that insulation made. Now the Lance is far from being as loud as the little Bronco; there was hardly any insulation in that thing, and it would've been difficult and expensive to keep that camper warm if I had been camping in cold places.

I wonder if the solar panels are causing a lot of the noise. The roof of the Lance is largely covered with solar panels, and even though there are more solar panels on the Arctic Fox, the Fox is so big it still has a lot of exposed rubber roof for the hail to hit, which may deaden the sound a little bit.

Whatever it is, I'm not going to worry about it; I don't get enough hail in my life to make it a big deal, and after all, "into each life, a little hail must fall."
