I moseyed out of my boondocking spot at Picacho Peak State Park about 8:30, and a couple of hours later, after a brief stop at Gila Bend for breakfast, I headed south on Highway 85 to Ajo, Arizona.

Pulling into the old rodeo grounds, I found six or eight other RVs firmly ensconced here, so I picked a spot away from most folks and made myself to home.

So, what's it like being in Ajo at the moment? First, it's 72° outside, and the sky is blue and cloudless. The 10-day weather forecast I just looked at five minutes ago says that's how it will be in the future, but with a few clouds later this week, which is great since I might get some sunset and sunrise pictures. I'm back to wearing a T-shirt again, but I keep a jacket handy for early mornings and late afternoons. After all, this is a desert, and deserts can be quite chilly at night, even in the summer.

I don't know how long I'll be here, but since it's free and no stay limits, I'll be here until I leave. I have yet to go into town since the old rodeo arena is about 3 miles before I get to town so I won't know what's going on in Ajo until I get a chance to talk to folks in the big city of Ajo.

There isn't much to do here, especially since I've done so much of everything before. But some things I enjoy doing, like roaming around in the desert, I don't feel safe doing anymore because of the border situation.

Years ago, they had signs up near Ajo saying to be aware that this was a smuggling area. But that didn't bother me because America mostly controlled our borders. But right now, the Sinaloa Cartel has control over both sides of the border, which in a strange way is a good thing because the cartel is making so much money, so fast, they don't want anything interfering with their cash cow of human and drug smuggling. Hence, they keep things as peaceful as possible so the American public won't stand up and demand that all of this border lunacy be stopped.

And all it takes to make this whole scam work Is for the cartels to slide a few million dollars into the palms of a few crooked politicians on both sides of the border...I'll let you decide which politicians thinks open borders are a Great idea and which ones want it to stop, and millions of people from all over the world will continue pouring into America... As long as the cartels are making money faster than they can count it, and American politicians are shoveling money into offshore accounts under various LLC's the border areas will actually remain fairly safe.

Oops! There I go again; I went from talking about a town where it's sunny and warm to the current border policy, which always gets me upset. So I'll try not to do that anymore unless it's something more interesting than just my political views.

So, to sum it up, there's not much to do in Ajo. I think most folks come to Ajo because it's a quaint little town that's sunny and warm, and It's a good place to live your retirement life. And that's what I'm doing; I'm not on vacation, I don't have a mission, I don't have a goal, and most of all I don't have any plans, I'm just living a perfectly normal life of cooking dinner, going for a walk, playing on the Internet, all the while living in a tiny home with wheels that has the unique ability to transport me to places that make me happy.

Goat tying is the name of the game, and these girls are serious about it.

Tying up the goat seems easy enough, it's that thing about jumping off a horse at full gallop that seems to be the problem. The girl has to time the speed the horse is going with how quickly she can get up to that speed, and the best part of this contest is watching what happens when her feet hit the ground, because sometimes her feet and her face hit the ground at the same time....it's a tough sport, ya gotta cowboy up.

Another goat tyer that appears to be suffering a knee injury, and one has to wonder if she got that from falling off of the Ranch-house while adjusting the Starlink antenna on the roof, wrestling a rabid Wolverine, or... JUMPING OFF OF A GALLOPING HORSE!

So what do you reckon a gaggle of teenage cowgirls talk about when they're standing around leaning against their favorite horse? 

A...The upcoming presidential election and the ramifications of having a leader of the free world older than dirt?

 B...the freezing weather and icy roads up north?

C... Teenage cowboys?

of all the different disciplines in a rodeo that shows certain kinds of skills, I believe there's only two disciplines that cowboys actually use.

One is breaking a wild horse so they become a good cow pony, so riding a bucking bronco is something a cowboy may have to do on occasions.

The other thing is roping and this is something a cowboy does every single day for one reason or another. It is basically the one single skill you have to have to be a cowboy. All the other rodeo stuff is just for show, and was usually done on a bet after a few beers.
