Clicking the pics is as American as baseball, mom, and apple pie..... Other countries don't have any of those things.

I managed to find a Hidey-hole to back into off to myself at the VFW, so even though it's kind of crowded here, I feel more socially distanced, and able to stay away from other folks, because I still worry about the Bat flu. And I've got two directions I can look without seeing another  RV.

I Left Quartzsite this morning at about 9 o'clock. Even though I was heading for Dateland Arizona, which is only about two hours away, as I drove past the VFW boondocking area on Highway 95 just outside of Yuma, it didn't look all that crowded, so I thought, what the heck, I haven't been here for a while, I should spend the night. So after a grueling hour and a half drive, which included a stopover at the Yuma Proving Ground to take some pictures, I pulled into the Yuma VFW and set up for the night.

It's free to stay here, and I'm not sure if they have a stay limit or not, but they have a host that lives here you have to check in with, and you're required to be a veteran. Fortunately, that's their only criteria because I doubt if I would've passed any dress codes, or worse yet, an IQ test.

I'm glad I stopped because I kind of like it here. However, it can get crowded. There's a Walmart nearby, which is handy if I was going to stay here long enough to need to do any shopping.

My new neighborhood at the VFW. More crowded than I like, but I'm boondocked off to myself so I'm happy.  it's just like being in Quartzsite, it's open desert, and you park wherever you like.

I stopped at the little outdoor Museum at the Yuma Proving Grounds to take a break from the drive and snap a few pictures. I believe this is a 155 howitzer, but I'm not sure because the Air Force would never let me touch such a thing for fear I would accidentally shoot myself in the foot.

Looky what I found at the Yuma Proving Grounds !! A brand-new shiny JLTV. [Joint Light Tactical Vehicle] these are made by Oshkosh and are replacing the old Humvees. Since I got a close look at it I would say the term "Light" in its name is relative, because it's only "light" when compared to an M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank. To get an idea of the size of this JLTV, look at the size of the truck trailer tires compared to the wheels and tires on this behemoth.

There's not a scratch on it, which tells me it's never been touched by a G.I. maybe it's being brought here so they can flog the living daylights out of it at the proving grounds. Or maybe they're trying to figure a way to make it lose a few thousand pounds. I would suggest getting rid of about 50 of the bolts on the wheels.
